Our Approach
Informed by educators and community partners, Chamberlin Education Foundation co-develops and funds initiatives that promote academic achievement and education equity for students in West Contra Costa public schools.
Overview
Chamberlin Education Foundation’s grantmaking focuses on improving TK–5 math and literacy across West Contra Costa public schools. We advance this goal through three connected areas: School Partnerships, Talent Pipelines, and Informed Community Leadership.
Together, they strengthen schools, educators, and the community systems that support student success.
School Partnerships
Student achievement grows when schools have the right conditions in place. Our School Partnerships strategy works intentionally with school teams to strengthen instructional leadership, high-quality curriculum implementation, professional development, observation and feedback, and a data-driven culture — the readiness criteria that underlie effective teaching and learning. Through supports like our Instructional Leadership Community of Practice, we help schools build these systems and scale what works for lasting, system-wide improvement.

Talent Pipelines
Excellent schools depend on excellent educators. Our Talent Pipelines strategy is grounded in the importance of recruiting, credentialing, developing, and retaining skilled teachers and school leaders. We support innovative educator preparation programs and leadership pathways that contribute to a strong, diverse educator workforce in West Contra Costa public schools. We also celebrate the educators who make a difference every day, recognizing their contributions, elevating impactful practice, and building a stronger community of support around the profession.

Informed Community Leadership
Strong public schools depend on a healthy public education ecosystem. Our Informed Community Leadership strategy strengthens the broader conditions that enable schools to deliver effective instruction and improve outcomes, including actionable information, connected community leadership, aligned policy, and coherent systems. We support families, community leaders, educators, and advocates to be informed and engaged partners in advancing shared priorities and working together to drive lasting progress for all West Contra Costa public school students.
