Annual Community Giving Initiative provides over $280,000 to local West Contra Costa nonprofits in 2024

Community Giving Initiative will award 41 grants to organizations serving West Contra Costa youth

RICHMOND, CA — The Chamberlin Education Foundation delivered dozens of grants to local nonprofit organizations through its annual Community Giving Initiative grantmaking program.

Chamberlin’s 2024 Community Giving Initiative (CGI) delivered 41 grants totaling $282,000 to nonprofits that provide a broad range of direct services to West Contra Costa youth.

The initiative extended foundation funding to 4 organizations that had not previously received a CGI award.

Although CEF primarily directs its grants and program support toward boosting academic success and education equity among K-12 public school students, our annual CGI grants also play a vital role in funding community-based organizations addressing critical needs for local youth.

Since 2017, CGI grants have contributed over $1.5 million to these community organizations providing direct services to the young people of West Contra Costa.

This year’s grantees represent a broad spectrum of youth service providers. Among these many valuable organizations, Richmond Promise and the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts stand out as examples of excellence. Richmond Promise has offered $1,500 renewable scholarships to 498 high school students with a significant 90% scholarship claim rate.

The East Bay Center for the Performing Arts has provided tuition-free performing arts education for 4,000 students across 15 schools and a rigorous Young Artist Diploma Program, underscoring the nonprofit’s commitment to accessible arts education in West Contra Costa.

Nonprofit organizations that provide direct service to West Contra Costa youth are encouraged to visit the foundation’s Community Giving Initiative page to learn more and sign up for updates about next year’s CGI grant application period.
