Community Giving Initiative delivers over $300K to West Contra Costa nonprofits

Grant program supports 51 organizations that provide a range of services to local youth

RICHMOND, CA — The Chamberlin Education Foundation delivered a record number of grants to local nonprofit organizations through its annual Giving Tuesday grantmaking initiative.

The foundation’s 2023 Community Giving Initiative (CGI) delivered 51 grants totaling over $300,000 to nonprofits that provide a broad range of direct services to West Contra Costa youth.

This year’s awardee total climbed 11% over the prior year. The program’s growth extended foundation funding to 14 organizations that had not previously received a CGI award.

While CEF focuses the majority of its grantmaking and program support on efforts to improve academic success and education equity for K-12 public school students, the foundation’s annual CGI grants add support for community-based organizations that fill in critical gaps for local youth.

Since 2017, CGI grants have delivered over $1.3 million to local organizations that provide direct service to young people across West Contra Costa.*
